Childhood Cancer Care Foundation

A Beacon of Hope for Pakistan’s Youngest Warriors

Cancer. A word that sends shivers down spines, even among the strongest. But for many children in Pakistan, the fight against this unrelenting illness is a harsh reality they face every day.

Following their child’s cancer treatment journey in Jordan, Dr. Zainab Umer and Mr. Kamal returned to Pakistan with a renewed purpose. Inspired by their personal experience, they founded the Childhood Cancer Care Foundation (CCCF) in 2015. Initially an informal initiative, it blossomed into a registered organization by 2018, taking root within a cancer unit at CMH.

The CCCF’s mission is simple yet profound: to fight for the lives of Pakistan’s young warriors battling cancer. They believe this fight shouldn’t be waged alone. It requires the collective strength of the community – the general public, corporate sponsors, and you, the reader.

Celebrating Milestones and Empowering Parents

For children undergoing treatment, every small step forward is a victory. The CCCF acknowledges this by awarding “treatment graduation certificates” for milestones achieved during treatment. These ceremonies celebrate both the children’s achievements and the resilience of their families. Furthermore, the CCCF encourages parental participation in these celebrations, fostering a sense of shared accomplishment and strength.

The burden of a child’s illness doesn’t fall solely on the children themselves. Parents, too, grapple with emotional and psychological distress. To address this, the CCCF conducts workshops led by qualified mental health professionals, equipping parents with the necessary skills to provide love and support for their children during treatment, empowering them to become their child’s strongest advocates.

A Haven for Children Battling Cancer

The Childhood Cancer Care Foundation (CCCF) is more than just a psychosocial service facility; it’s a haven for children battling cancer and their families. They recognize that a child’s well-being extends far beyond physical health, therefore CCCF offers a comprehensive range of services designed to nurture the mind, body, and spirit. From psychological counseling and social support to financial assistance, the CCCF provides a safe and supportive environment where children can find strength, hope, and companionship.

Providing Psychological, Social, and Financial Support

The CCCF understands that the journey of a child battling cancer is emotionally taxing for both the child and their family. To address these challenges, the foundation provides a variety of support services.

Psychological counseling helps children and their families cope with the emotional and psychological impact of the disease. Social support programs offer opportunities for children to connect with others who are going through similar experiences, fostering a sense of belonging and understanding.

Moreover, the CCCF provides financial assistance to help families cover the costs of treatment, ensuring that no child is denied access to life-saving care.

Nurturing the Minds and Bodies of Young Patients

The CCCF believes that a child’s well-being is essential for a successful recovery. To support this, the foundation offers a range of programs designed to nurture both the mind and body. Inpatient school services ensure that children can continue their education while undergoing treatment, helping to maintain a sense of normalcy and routine.

Additionally, the CCCF organizes recreational activities, social events, and art therapy sessions to provide children with opportunities for fun, relaxation, and self-expression. By focusing on the whole child, the CCCF helps to create a positive and supportive environment that can make a significant difference in a child’s journey to recovery.
